The calanque de la Mounine is located half way between the col du sémaphore and the Marseilleveyre. This small calanque not very sheltered is the first on the coast path. Its feminine name refers to its particular shape, which in Marseille means… Yes, you get it! (Otherwise just ask someone from Marseille, they will answer you with a big smile ;) )
The calanque is not very deep, and it also reminds of a small fish tank, with many fishes, shells and sea urchins ! At the exit, it gets deeper until the small island of la Mounine. Fishermen enjoy this small island, but there are sometimes a strong current. From there, the plateau des chèvres starts (10 m deep), linking the coast to Jarre and Jarron islands at the opposite.
