Les Baumettes district

Les Baumettes district is situated in border of the National park (in the 9th district of Marseille), between the village of Mazargues and the hills. Well-know for the prison of the Baumettes, constructed in 1939. After the straight road next to the prison, the way arrive to the parking of the Baumettes park and the starting point of the road witch goes to the calanque of Morgiou.

Route information

  • Bus: To acces to the Baumetttes district, take the bus 22 from "rond point du prado" and get down at the terminus "Les Baumettes"
  • Calanques reachable: Morgiou, Sormiou
  • Hiking routes: From the parking of the park, it's possible to join with a car the calanque of Morgiou (See entering the calanques). Morgiou access is also possible by the trail starting on the left near the last houses before the pizzeria and the calanque of Sormiou can be reached by two path.
